Discover Leyland Market

Leyland Market

Leyland Market is the beating heart of its local community, acting as a place to shop, eat and meet friends - old or new.

Conveniently positioned in the centre of the town, Leyland has been a market town since the 18th century, having had three previous homes before settling in its current location - sharing the same community values and product style that has always been loved by its local community.

The market is open on Tuesdays and Friday between 8.30am - 5pm, and Saturdays between 8.30am- 16:30pm.

Leyland Market is located behind the many independent shops on Hough Lane and is walking distance from the train station, taking around five minutes to get from platform to purchasing.

The market is also reasonably accessible by car, with a number of side streets in the area free to park on, as well as a car park located next to the roundabout and 1 hour's free parking in the blue bays at the rear of the market.

What can you expect?

Leyland Market is a thriving shopping destination with a fantastic choice of stalls including a butchers, bakery, cake stall, children's toy shop, gifts and candles, and fresh fruit and vegetables.

The Plant Stall boasts the accolade for the longest standing stall at Leyland Market, selling seasonal flowers, floral displays and house plants - perfect for gifts and brightening up your home.

Whittaker's Butchers is a local favourite, famous for their fresh, locally sourced meat, cut to the request of the customer. Their 'weekend meal deal' proved to be a hit over the Christmas period, with people able to get their hands on garlic mushrooms, meatballs, rice, chips and BBQ pork strips for just £10.

Sycamore Cakes and Bakes' handmade sweet treats are very difficult to walk past. Their mouth-watering display of Kinder Bueno brownies and Bischoff stuffed cookies will certainly put smiles on faces when they're brought out for dessert.

For your eco-friendly health and beauty products, check out The Weigh To Go - a local producer of environmentally conscious products like hand gel, tea and deodorant. All the ingredients are sourced in the region and provide a safer alternative to mainstream products, and you can bring or buy a bottle to use the eco refill station.

And when your shopping list is all ticked off, stop at Piggies at the Market for a steaming cuppa or freshly made snack. Leyland Market's popular café has an entrance inside and outside, and an extensive menu of food at great prices. The café truly embodies the community spirit of the market, keeping a designated 'talking table' for customers who are happy to sit with new friends they haven't met yet, and have a chat over a meal.

Small town, big heart

The market binds Leyland together, making it a hub for local activity.

During December there was a Santa's grotto at located there to bring the magic of Christmas into the lives of local families.

The market played a big part in the Leyland Christmas Lights Switch On, hosted by the one and only Kirk Sutherland from Coronation Street, and events such as A Taste of Leyland.
