Live! From South Ribble
Springtime is the start of a very special period in South Ribble.
Live event season was kicked off by Penwortham Live at the start of May, and didn't we have a blast?
South Ribble really shines when the sun comes out - here's some of the highlights and regular fixtures in our calendar.
LostFest
Lostock Hall's very own music festival is a fantastic family day out.
Once a year Lostock Hall come together to enjoy music and dancing, as well as entertainment for the kids and plenty of drinks for adults.
The festival was blessed with sunshine this year as we said hello to spring with a fantastic event.
Penwortham Live
The weekend Liverpool Road comes alive! Well, more than usual.
Penwortham Live is spread over two evenings and sees the venues on Liverpool Road open their doors to music and good vibes.
Over the course of the weekend, bars, pubs, cafés and restaurants host live music and serve alcohol till late as the people of Penwortham and beyond enjoy an evening in South Ribble.
Wristbands bought from participating venues gets you through the door to enjoy a drink with the community, as well as listen to the live music from local artists.
It's always a fantastic show of what South Ribble is all about and is one to circle in the diary.
Music In The Park
The incredible 'Music in The Park' returns to Leyland for another year of old school classics in Worden Park when the likes of Peter Andre and Bananarama take to the stage.
Last year's event featured chart-toppers like the kings of wishful thinking themselves, Go West, as well as Spandau Ballet's Tony Hadley.
After the success of the first year, it had to return for a second round - bigger and better this time.
South Ribble will celebrate the final bank holiday of the month with music and summer vibes as Worden Park dances to the sounds of the 80s and 90s on what promises to be a brilliant Sunday.
Penwortham Gala
From festivals to festivities, Penwortham Gala is one of South Ribble's most iconic events of the calendar.
The gala takes place on the second weekend of June every year and has done so for over 40 years. This time around it falls on June 10 and 11!
Affectionately known as 'Penny Gala', the weekend-long event is a community hotspot as people descend on the town to enjoy the weather, stalls and entertainment with their neighbours.
Longton Live
Another South Ribble classic making its return for 2024, Longton Live will be back in July to help us all celebrate summer.
Much like Penwortham Live, the event is spread over a Friday and Saturday evening, with live music ringing around Longton and drinks flowing.
The event is always well received in the community and, as it is held during the peak of summer, we tend to be blessed with good weather.
Fingers crossed!
